Since its founding in 2004, 6° of Freedom has been at the cutting edge of wear particle (debris) analysis. While running the successful metallurgical and materials consulting company, One Eighty (Pty) Ltd, Dr Janet Cotton, was asked to conduct wear particle (debris) analysis for a major international orthopaedic device manufacturer. This testing resulted in the manufacturer receiving the required certification and during the trials it became apparent that specialist wear particle (debris) analysis was needed in the industry. After consulting with some of the largest orthopaedic manufactures, 6° of Freedom was established to provide cutting edge testing of wear particles (debris).
One Eighty (Pty) Ltd provides metallurgical, materials and mechanical engineering consultancy services to a global client portfolio and it’s this broad spectrum of experience that provides a unique background to the services offered by 6° of Freedom. With an emphasis on practical solutions for complex engineering problems, engineers are encouraged to develop broad-based skills and experience which provides 6° of Freedom to stay on the cutting edge of the highly specialized and quickly developing medical device and orthopaedic industry.
